This was a major scoop, photographs and all. I had managed to get inside the Lucan coterie and describe a defensive, arrogant world, which treated its friends and foes with, seemingly, equal brutality. I also got exclusive access to Lady Lucan, whose evidence that her husband had killed Sandra rivett, the nanny, was to me conclusive. It was in the early days of a huge, endlessly running story, which added millions to newspaper circulations.
